Collagen - discover the protein of youth
Collagen is what allows us to enjoy firm and youthful-looking skin, as well as strong nails and hair. Find out more about it.
Its name comes from the Greek word 'kolla', meaning glue. And it is this etymology that best tells us the important functions of this protein in our body. In the simplest terms, it binds, glues together skin cells, cartilage, tendons and bones. In the human body, it makes up approximately one-third of all proteins.
Why is collagen so important for beauty?
Because it is largely what keeps our skin tight, smooth, supple and nourished, and our hair and nails strong. When it starts to be in short supply, it quickly takes its toll. In the case of the skin, this is most quickly seen on the face, neck and décolleté and on the hands. The skin loses its radiance, becomes duller, drier and flabbier, the first wrinkles appear, and hair and nails are thinner, more brittle and fragile.
When does it start to become scarce?
Unfortunately, as early as between the ages of 25 and 30, the production of this mineral begins to decline - by an average of 1-1.5% per year. More and more collagen cells die and new cells appear more slowly. The body no longer replenishes 100% of its deficiencies. After the age of 60, its production virtually stops.
Collagen fibres are also damaged by stress, hormonal disorders, UV radiation, environmental pollution, smoking, excess sugar in the diet or oxidative stress (an imbalance between the amount of harmful free radicals and antioxidants neutralising them).
To make up for its deficiencies and fight the signs of ageing, it is worth using cosmetics with collagen and supplementing it from within.
Did you know... we have created an Anti- age active serum based on vegetable collagen, which stimulates the natural regeneration of collagen and helps significantly slow down the ageing process. The anti-age effect can be enhanced by combining the serum with Fish Collagen liquid, which will take care of your skin, hair and nails from the inside out.
